SOMETHING INTERESTING
I think someone's mom texted me saying "Get up kids it's time for school!" and I just found it as some sort of random motivation. I texted the person shortly after asking who it was and they responded the next day saying it's time for school, around the same time again. Weird experience.

IMMIGRANTS IN OUR OWN LAND
The poem, ' Immigrants in our own land' by Jimmy Santiago Baca translates to me as a immigrant going into new land and then comparing it to life in prison.. Immigrants go into new land expecting it to be great but then it ends up being not what they expected. They get clustered into their own 'sections' & still not feeling like it's home or not feeling right. The author'stone gave us a sense a reality, it went straight to the point and gave no 'foreign language'. The poem somewhat feels more personal to my family and I because my parents have experienced the same things in this prom but have learned over time,

MY MAD DREAM OF A ESSAY
Remember that time you ate that spicy sandwich just before you went to bed on the night before the big graduation? Oh, that weird dream you had about the 2016 presidential election. When you woke up you couldn't quite remember the horrendous details, but after reading "On Self-Reliance" and "A Sound of Thunder" it's all coming back to you now.
The dream started badly. You were in line with your family at Target waiting to be sent to a steep cliff. Everywhere you looked there were posters of president-elect Sin Melox, looking like a crazy cat] who could eat a whole possum.
Suddenly, there was Ralph Waldo Emerson telling you, "Nothing can bring you peace but yourself" You realized that you have something to contribute to the world so you decided to dance. But it wasn't easy. First you had to put on a fancy dress and foot long heels and then you had make a package to go back in time to the museum so you could convince people to learn about the candidates and the immigration issues.
But right there in the museum there was a giant rabbit and it started roaring at everyone. People started to cry. You grabbed a broom from a nearby janitor and yelled we can change things that need to be changed. Everyone stopped and listened, so you kept going.
Every decision in our lives always changes our future. Even the smallest change or decision can affect our lives and how they will look like, such as what shoe to wear or doing our homework. Basically, everything we're doing right now at this moment, is affect our lives and maybe even the people surround us. If you look at our 'small' decisions all together, it doesn't look like a big emo act on our lives, more like a routine. An example will be when in 'A Sound Of Thunder', eckels doesn't expect a big change in his future from just stepping off the path and killing the butterfly. We can also be the change in which society wants/needs. We can change our future for the better, as Emerson explains in his essay, "My life is for itself and not for a spectacle", we can't keep wanting what others want but what ourselves want. We don't need to depend on others for the decision, we ourselves can be the change that we need.

MY AMERICAN VOICE
I think that it is important to speak up when the topic concerns you or effects you in anyway. If the topic doesn't concern you, I would say not to speak up, it wouldn't be very relevant to you to the point to not really do anything. If the topic is relevant to you then I would 100% say to speak up on the matter, to not be shy to say something that you clearly believe is right or wrong. It is always nice to prove someone wrong or right,

ESSAY 1 REVISED
After reading my colleagues' work and sharing ideas, I realized I could improve my first essay by including a hook and work on mechanics.
If I had to choose family over patriotism? I would pick family without hesitation. The argument of personal relations being more important than causes or patriotism, is true being that personal relations are more meaningful than patriotism. I agree that personal relations are more important because personal relations can actually spread positively while patriotism can spread negatively. People may say that their country or state is better than others which can start arguments, hatred, and competiveness between other countries and states. Others may say patriotism is more important by saying 'what's so bad about loving your country'? , well many will do anything to promote their country whether it is in a good or bad way.
Personal relations is essential to a happy and positive life. Such as, having a relationship with family is basic human nature and provides support and comfort between people. A relationship with family can be all peace and calm while patriotism can be aggressive and debatable. Indeed, Patriotism can unite people together and make people agree on one thing however, it can start wars and put countries or states against one another. Supporters recognized wanting the best for their country and promoting it in that way, still they do not recognize many promote in a way that degrades other countries.
Therefore, personal relations are more important than patriotism in a way of spreading more positively. Personal relations is essential while patriotism is unnecessary unless used in a way to unite others together. Patriotism is mainly used in a negative way to bring other countries down, rise hatred and mistrust

bad words
I think what makes words bad are the way people think of certain words, they may think certain words as impolite or rude. Also, the way the words are being used or in what tones they say it in. Such as, someone who stubs their toe wouldn't say a 'good' word but a 'bad' word to expression how they feel. I think the use of 'good' and 'bad' words help express what a person is thinking & expand how they want to express a certain situation or mood. I think the use of euphemism would be appropriate to use when talking/approaching someone superior & I think it becomes confusing when used in certain tones.

Satire " white lives matter"
White lives matter and it's time for everyone to bring attention to all the white lives lost. These white lives were lost due to black hate crimes and resistance. I mean, black lives have been lost but white lives matter more right? There have been more white lives lost, about 414, according to CNN but only 233 black lives.
Due to the higher rate we should be more concerned about the white lives, not any other races'. The murders of white innocent lives have been kept quiet by people with high platforms on social media & media outlets have been focusing more on the black lives lost more than the whites. I mean white lives matter more, right ?

My response to "The Conscience Of A Hacker"
The reading, in my opinion, is in a more sarcastic tone & what society wants you to be, basically put you in this box. If you are smarter than others, you are bored in class, cheating and a overachiever. The author writes his experiences in high school, being put in a box & only being limited teaching material by teachers and adults. Society wants everybody to be a certain way and think a certain way, not to think different than others, unless you'll be defined as a overachiever or a underachiever.

My response to " A Modest Proposal"
In the reading, Swift talks about how women shouldn't get abortions and keep their children, but also says women shouldn't have as much kids. The author states women/ wives as breeders, but questions why the poor are having more children. Swift then completely changes his thoughts and thinks children would be a great meal to eat, & doesn't find children as "humans". Satire is in this reading by showing a strange and humorous topic being read/ written in a serious tone

EVERYTHING'S AMAZING
In the video, 'Louis CK everything is amazing and nobody is happy' it shows examples of satire used but not directly criticizing one person. A example that Louis CK used was electronics/ cellphone development over time, he was basically saying that nowadays calling someone is much more easier to do in a press of a button but it was harder in the past to dial a '0'. Louis CK whole point of talking how advance we got in technology, from when he was a child, is that we take our technology for granted and don't actually appreciate it enough.
Satire
1.
2. Dylan sprouse being mocked by teenagers
These videos are all examples of satire because someone is mocking and making fun of another person. These are all sarcastic and/or ironic, they use it in a way to criticize another person. Also, from what I found, many videos were using to mock Donald trump and politics in a negative way.

My response to "The Right To Your Opinion"
"The Right To Your Opinion" talked about how people are entitled to their own opinion but may not always know how to back up their opinions. People's opinion on things may not always be right but no one can tell you are wrong. As the author stated, "You may be interested in whether or not their opinion is true, but take the hint, they aren't". People DO have the right to their opinion but should as well be open to other's opinions.
My response to "The Laughing Heart" by Charles Bukowski
My thoughts on "The Laughing Heart" is that Bukowski expresses how he feels and sees life. The poem itself is a dark motivation speech to, what sounds, like a suicial person. Bukowski writes how life is your life, and to not let those dark thoughts take over because there will be light. There might not be much hope but to always be grateful for your life.
