IMMIGRANTS IN OUR OWN LAND

The poem, ' Immigrants in our own land' by Jimmy Santiago Baca translates to me as a immigrant going into new land and then comparing it to life in prison.. Immigrants go into new land expecting it to be great but then it ends up being not what they expected. They get clustered into their own 'sections' & still not feeling like it's home or not feeling right. The author'stone gave us a sense a reality, it went straight to the point and gave no 'foreign language'. The poem somewhat feels more personal to my family and I because my parents have experienced the same things in this prom but have learned over time,
